Aditya Khanna was born in 1965 in a small village near Katihar, Bihar to Pawan and Geeta Khanna. Katihar is a very small town in Bihar which is still not fully developed. Aditya Khanna is the eldest among the two brothers.

Pawan Khanna, father of Aditya Khanna, is a retired school teacher. Geeta Khanna, mother of Aditya Khanna is a housewife who devotes much of her time to the family and whenever she gets sometime for herself, she can be found singing bhajans along with the other village women at the local temples.

Aditya Khanna younger brother, Ashish Khanna, too has an interest in music. He accompanies his brother Aditya Khanna for the various stage shows and is the care taker of his music institute. Besides, he also manages the funds for Aditya Khanna.

Aditya Khanna and his wife Prabha have two sons, Vicky and Vishal. The family is currently settled in Katihar. Vicky, 12 and Vishal, 8, they both attend the same school as of their father Aditya Khanna.
